HTN — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 November 2026
The short version
HTN keeps your training on your device.
- There is no HTN server. We do not run one, so your data has nowhere to go.
- We cannot see your name, your age, your sessions, or your heart rate.
- Your heart rate never leaves your iPhone — not even to your own iCloud.
- There is no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party code in the app.
The longer version below explains exactly what is stored, and where.
Who we are
HTN is published by Fhive ("we", "us").
Questions about this policy or about your data: htn@fhive.co.
What HTN stores, and where
HTN stores three kinds of information. They are kept in different places on purpose.
1. Your profile and training history — on your device, synced to your iCloud
| What | Example |
|---|---|
| First name | Whatever you type during onboarding. You can leave it blank. |
| Age | In years. Used to set your heart-rate ceiling. |
| Training preferences | Which exercises you've enabled, sessions per week, program start date |
| Session history | Date, exercise, target and actual hold time, level, and whether the session succeeded |
| Disclaimer acceptance | The date you accepted the health disclaimer |
This is stored on your iPhone and mirrored to your own private iCloud database, so your history follows you to your other devices. That database belongs to your Apple Account. Apple's CloudKit does not give app developers any access to the contents of a user's private database, so we cannot read any of it. If you are signed out of iCloud, the app simply keeps everything locally and works exactly the same.
2. Your heart rate — on your iPhone only, never synced
During a session, HTN records your heart rate once per second, plus the average, maximum and minimum for each hold.
This data is stored in a separate database that is never sent to iCloud and never leaves your iPhone. This is a deliberate design decision, not a side effect: Apple's App Store guideline 5.1.3 prohibits storing health data in iCloud, and HTN is built with two separate stores so that the rule cannot be broken by accident.
A consequence you may notice: if you record a session on one device, its heart-rate recording will not appear on your other devices. The app tells you the session was "recorded on another device" rather than showing it as missing. That is the privacy guarantee working as intended.
3. Apple Health — written by you, read by no one
If you grant permission, HTN saves each completed session to Apple Health as a workout, including heart rate and (from Apple Watch) active energy.
- On iPhone, HTN requests permission to write to Health and requests no read access at all. The read scope is empty. The app cannot see anything already in your Health app.
- On Apple Watch, HTN reads your heart rate during an active session, so it can show it on your wrist and warn you if it climbs too high. It reads nothing else.
Data in Apple Health is governed by Apple's privacy protections and your own Health permissions. You can revoke HTN's access at any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices, or Settings → Privacy & Security → Health. We never receive a copy of anything written to Health.
Permissions HTN asks for, and why
| Permission | Why | What happens if you say no |
|---|---|---|
| Bluetooth | To connect to a chest-strap or armband heart-rate monitor using the standard Bluetooth heart-rate profile. The connection is direct between the strap and your iPhone. | Sessions work normally; you can use Apple Watch instead, or run with no heart rate at all. |
| Health | To save finished sessions as workouts, and (on Watch) to read heart rate during a session. | Sessions work normally and are still recorded in HTN. Nothing is written to Health. |
| Notifications | For local reminders only — HTN tells you when a rest period ends while your screen is off. These are scheduled on your device. | You get no rest-end alert; everything else is unchanged. |
HTN does not send you marketing or promotional notifications. The app includes Apple's remote-notification background capability for one reason: it is how iCloud tells your device that your own training data has changed on another device. It is not used to send you messages, and it carries no content from us.
What HTN does not do
This list is as important as the one above.
- No analytics or tracking. The app contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting SDK, no advertising identifier, and no tracking of any kind. It does not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework because it has nothing to ask for.
- No third-party code. HTN has no third-party dependencies. The only code in the app is ours and Apple's.
- No network requests. The app makes no network calls of its own. The only network traffic it causes is Apple's own iCloud synchronisation of your private database.
- No advertising. There are no ads and no ad networks.
- No data sales. We have no data to sell, and we would not sell it if we did.
- No account. HTN has no sign-in, no password, and no user ID. We have no way to identify you.
Your control over your data
- See everything: everything HTN knows about you is visible inside the app, in the You tab and your session history.
- Delete everything: deleting the app removes all local data, including every heart-rate recording, permanently. To also remove the synced copy, delete HTN's data from Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
- Health data is separate: workouts HTN wrote to Apple Health stay in Health after you delete HTN, because they are yours. Remove them in the Health app.
- Revoke permissions at any time in iOS Settings, without uninstalling.
Because we hold no copy of your data and cannot identify you, we cannot retrieve, export, correct or delete your information on your behalf — you hold all of it, and the controls above are complete.
Legal bases and your rights
Fhive is based in France, so the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, wherever you live. It gives you rights over personal data held about you — access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection.
HTN is designed so that these rights are exercised directly on your device. We are not able to access, and therefore do not process on our servers, any of the personal data described in this policy. Where data is held in your iCloud account, Apple acts as the provider of that storage under your own agreement with Apple, and Apple's Privacy Policy applies to it: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.
If you believe your data has been handled improperly, you may contact us at htn@fhive.co, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority — in France, the CNIL (https://www.cnil.fr), or the authority where you live.
This policy is governed by French law.
Children
HTN is not directed at children and is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children — and in practice we collect nothing from anyone, as described above.
Health disclaimer
HTN is a fitness and exercise app. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and it does not provide medical advice. The heart-rate ceiling it shows is a general training guide, not a clinical threshold.
Isometric exercise raises blood pressure during each hold. Talk to your doctor before starting this or any exercise program, particularly if you have high blood pressure, a heart condition, or any other medical condition, or if you take medication that affects your heart rate or blood pressure. Stop immediately and seek medical attention if you feel chest pain, dizziness, or shortness of breath.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top and publish the new version at this address. Material changes that affect how your data is handled will also be surfaced in the app.
